Football Association Launches 'Legends Project' Honoring Past National Team Stars
The Israel Football Association has launched a new initiative called the 'Legends Project,' aimed at honoring former national team players and coaches. Approximately 70 past stars and trainers gathered at the NYX Hotel in Herzliya for a special evening to inaugurate the project.
The project's goal is to recognize the contributions of these former athletes and reintegrate their experience, knowledge, and legacy with the current and future Israeli national teams. The event brought together players from Israel's historic 1970 World Cup squad, alongside numerous other players and coaches who have shaped the nation's football history.
During the evening, which celebrated the past, a particularly moving moment involved honoring coaches who are no longer alive, including Shfer, Grundman, Shneur, Kashtan, and Schweitzer.
