Honey-Glazed Short Ribs Recipe Perfect for Rosh Hashanah Feast
A new recipe for honey and silan (date syrup) glazed short ribs is being presented as an ideal, impressive yet easy-to-prepare dish for the Rosh Hashanah holiday table. The recipe involves slow-cooking the short ribs with onions, garlic, honey, silan, soy sauce, mustard, red wine, and beef broth or water in an oven-safe pot.
The preparation begins by searing the short ribs in a wide pot with olive oil until nicely browned on all sides. The ribs are then removed, and sliced onions are sautéed in the same pot until softened and golden. Minced garlic is added and cooked for another minute.
A mixture of silan, honey, soy sauce, mustard, red wine, and water or broth is prepared. The short ribs are returned to the pot, the sauce mixture is poured over them, and the dish is seasoned with salt and pepper. It is then covered and baked in a preheated oven at 160 degrees Celsius (320 degrees Fahrenheit) for approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, or until the meat is very tender and falls off the bone.
In the final 20 minutes of cooking, the lid is removed to allow the meat to brown further and the sauce to reduce into a thick, glossy glaze. The dish is served hot, topped with the caramelized onions and plenty of the rich sauce, offering a sweet, festive, and visually appealing main course suitable for Rosh Hashanah.
