Ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Lazetić Nears Sacking in Saudi Arabia

Serbian coach Vladimir Ivić, formerly of Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reportedly on the verge of being fired from his current position with Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun. Ivić was dismissed by Maccabi Tel Aviv less than eight months ago and now faces a similar fate in Saudi Arabia due to the team's poor recent performance.

Al-Taawoun has struggled significantly in their last six league matches, failing to secure a single win. The team has recorded three losses and three draws, accumulating only three points out of a possible eighteen, placing them 14th in the league standings.

According to sources close to the club's management, a special meeting is scheduled to take place after the upcoming match against Al-Hilal. This meeting will determine Ivić's future with the club. The game against Al-Hilal, featuring star players like Ollie Watkins, Gabriel Martinelli, and Rúben Neves, is considered Ivić's last chance to save his job. Al-Hilal has been in strong form, earning 15 out of a possible 18 points.

Ivić joined Al-Taawoun after reportedly receiving a lucrative offer, with his contract said to be worth over $2 million. In the event of his dismissal, Saudi coach Saad Al-Shehri is rumored to be the leading candidate to replace him.
