Maccabi Tel Aviv Set to Profit from Parfait Guiagon's Transfer to Saudi Club
Parfait Guiagon's turbulent tenure at Belgian club Charleroi has ended, with reports confirming a transfer agreement to Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun. The former Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder is expected to sign a three-year contract with Al-Taawoun, coached by another ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv figure, Žarko Lazetić. Guiagon's departure follows a deep conflict with Charleroi's management and fans, culminating in a public fallout after the season opener where he refused to celebrate his Man of the Match award and had a heated confrontation with club president Mehdi Bayat.
The situation escalated when Guiagon was excluded from the squad for the following match under the pretext of illness, amid claims from the player's camp that the president physically assaulted him. Although the exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, Maccabi Tel Aviv stands to gain financially from the deal, holding approximately 20% of any future transfer profit plus solidarity payments. Based on Guiagon's estimated market value of 5 million euros by Transfermarkt, Maccabi could receive around 730,000 euros from the sale.
This transfer marks a significant development for Guiagon, who is moving to a club led by a former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach, and for Maccabi Tel Aviv, which benefits financially from the player's move abroad.
