Former Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Lazetić on Brink of Sacking in Saudi Arabia

Serbian coach Željko Lazetić, formerly of Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reportedly close to being fired from his current position with Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun. Less than eight months after his dismissal from the Israeli club, Lazetić faces an imminent departure due to his team's poor performance in the Saudi League. Al-Taawoun currently sits in 14th place, having secured only three points from a possible eighteen with three draws and three losses in their last six matches.

According to local media reports, the club's management is considering an early change and has scheduled a crucial meeting following the upcoming game against Al-Hilal. This match is seen as a final opportunity for Lazetić, as Al-Hilal boasts a squad of star players. The outcome of this meeting will determine the Serbian coach's future with the team.

Lazetić joined Al-Taawoun after reportedly receiving a lucrative offer worth over $2 million. However, his tenure has been marked by disappointing results. If Lazetić is indeed dismissed, Saudi coach Saad Al-Shehri is rumored to be the leading candidate to replace him.
