Rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg Concludes Israel Visit with All-Night Prayer at Western Wall
The Rebbe of Sanz-Klausenburg concluded his weeks-long visit to the Holy Land this week, returning to his residence in the United States ahead of the High Holy Days. A highlight of his final days in Israel was an emotional prayer service at the Western Wall, the remnant of the ancient Temple.
Witnesses observed the Rebbe arriving at the Western Wall plaza in the dead of night. He remained there for several hours, engaged in prayer and supplication for the welfare of the Jewish people, only departing as dawn broke over Jerusalem.
During his last week in Israel, the Rebbe also prayed at the gravesites of his father, the Rebbe author of 'Shefa Chaim' of Sanz, and his mother. He also received followers seeking blessings, served as a godfather at a circumcision ceremony for a follower's son, and laid tefillin for a Bar Mitzvah boy.
In a notable gesture, the Rebbe visited the Rebbe of Biala to express his gratitude for the use of his large synagogue hall for early morning penitential prayers at the beginning of the week.
