Ex-Hapoel Be'er Sheva Striker Recounts Bizarre Confrontation with Chinese Club President

Former Hapoel Be'er Sheva striker Arnold Gerritah has shared a peculiar anecdote from his time playing in China for Shenzhen Juniors. The Cameroonian forward, currently with Steaua Bucharest, detailed an incident on his TikTok account where he confronted the club president after receiving a five-game suspension and a significant fine.

Gerritah, 31, joined Shenzhen in January 2026 and had a strong scoring record, netting 12 goals in 14 appearances. However, after receiving a red card, the club decided to remove him from their registered player list to make space for another foreign striker, which Gerritah viewed as unfair given his performance.

The situation escalated when Gerritah was informed he owed the club 40,000 yuan (approximately $5,000) in fines, in addition to a $10,000 salary deduction and compensation for five missed workdays. Feeling unjustly treated, Gerritah entered the club president's office to protest.

During the heated exchange, Gerritah recounted lying on the floor, hands in the air, imploring the president to 'shoot me' and 'kill me,' emphasizing his desperation and the perceived unfairness of the financial penalties. He clarified that he did not intend to harm himself but was using the dramatic gesture to highlight the injustice.

Gerritah concluded by advising young players to avoid receiving foolish red cards, especially during crucial periods or transfer windows, as it could lead to being removed from the squad and facing similar unfair consequences.
