IDF Reservists in Gaza Assert Full Operational Freedom
Reservists from Battalion 8104 of the 99th Division are operating deep within the Gaza Strip, maintaining high morale despite over 500 cumulative days of combat. The soldiers, preparing for the High Holidays, are stationed in the heart of the Strip, where the atmosphere is tense but their determination remains strong.
Addressing public discourse suggesting limitations on their operations, Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel A. stated that their actions are systematic, purposeful, and unhindered. "We operate here with sharpness and full operational freedom," he explained. The area they control extends approximately 250 kilometers to the "yellow line," situated on the so-called "Tencer Axis" (Salah al-Din Axis). This territory has been thoroughly cleared of terrorists, suspicious structures, and weaponry.
Lt. Col. A. emphasized that any attempt by the enemy to re-establish a presence is immediately and decisively eliminated without interference. He highlighted the strategic importance of their position, stating, "When we stand here and look east towards home, you understand everything." He believes their presence deep in Gaza provides genuine defense for Israeli citizens and their homes.
Company Commander Major A. expressed pride in the reservists' unwavering commitment, noting their continuous service rotation after rotation. "Even after 500 days of fighting, the soldiers keep coming and don't rest for a moment," he said. He also confirmed that there have been no shortages in personnel, with soldiers consistently reporting for duty. The commanders' role, he added, is to carefully balance the soldiers' personal and family needs with the demanding requirements of combat operations.
