Red Star Belgrade Regrets Selling Douglas Awosou to Hapoel Tel Aviv

Serbian club Red Star Belgrade may be regretting the sale of midfielder Douglas Awosou to Hapoel Tel Aviv during the recent transfer window. Reports from Serbia suggest that Awosou, who has since impressed in Israel, was perhaps let go too quickly and potentially misused by the club.

The Serbian outlet Meridian noted that Awosou is "flourishing in Israel" and that some believe Red Star did not utilize him correctly. However, the report also acknowledges that given coach Vladan Milojević's tactical preferences, Awosou might not have been the best fit, particularly regarding defensive contributions.

Red Star Belgrade has had a turbulent start to their season, having already replaced manager Dejan Stanković following their Champions League qualifying exit to Hapoel Be'er Sheva. The club is also reportedly struggling with other transfer dealings, including the acquisition of Luizo, for whom they paid 1.3 million euros, and who, like fellow new signing Muhamed Badamosi, is finding it difficult to adapt.

Awosou's departure, alongside that of Luizo, is seen by some as a losing proposition for Red Star, especially considering the investment in Luizo. The club is looking to stabilize its season under new management and with a squad undergoing significant changes.
