The lecturer reportedly promoted antisemitic blood libels and issued direct threats of annihilation, culminating in chants calling for violence against Jews. Friedman noted that this event, occurring in the world's fourth-largest Jewish community, is indicative of a broader, global trend.
She lamented that such antisemitic rhetoric is increasingly normalized in public discourse, often met with sympathetic audiences and permissive government policies. Friedman questioned the notion of a "free world" when wishing destruction upon a specific people has become fashionable, disguised as activism for justice and morality. Friedman emphasized that the role of WIZO, a global Zionist-women's network, is becoming increasingly critical. While Israel was once the primary threat and communities were relatively protected, the situation is reversing, exposing Jewish communities to dangers reminiscent of past generations.
