Gershon Reflects on Herzliya's Comeback Win Despite Performance Issues
Amit Gershon, guard for Bnei Herzliya, expressed mixed feelings after his team's 101-98 victory over Hapoel Eilat in their opening game of the Winner Cup. While pleased with the win, Gershon admitted the team "didn't play well" and that "things will come together" gradually as the coaches work to integrate the new players. The team trailed Eilat by as many as 15 points through three quarters before mounting a comeback in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The team's foreign guard duo, Zach Bryant and D.J. Broughton, showed promising chemistry. Broughton led all scorers with 28 points, while Bryant added 20. Gershon himself contributed 16 points in 22 minutes, playing a key role in the team's rally. Noah Carter also scored 20 points, all in the second half.
Herzliya's management also praised D.J. Barnes, a new addition, for his significant weight loss over the summer and his potential to be one of the league's top big men this season. Gershon stated his personal goal is to "connect with a winning team" and that he feels good about his integration into the squad.
