Mysterious IDF Tank with Laser Capabilities Sparks Speculation in Lebanon
Lebanese media and social media users have been discussing footage showing an Israeli military tank in the village of Zoutar al-Sharqiyah, apparently emitting laser beams from its turret. Israeli security officials confirmed to Kan News on Wednesday that the tank is an "Oref" (Lion of Judah) model. The "Oref" tank was classified until recently, but a year ago, it was permitted to reveal that some tanks in the Armored Corps possess special capabilities, including enemy identification and location.
The footage shows flashing lights, described as laser-like, though the exact nature of these lights and the visual effect are attributed partly to the filming method and exposure time. Further details about the lights remain undisclosed.
The Israeli tank has become a focal point in Lebanon, with the video generating numerous claims, assessments, and interpretations from Arab world experts. Some speculate it features a specialized laser system for intercepting drones or for threat detection.
