Odeya Releases New EP Tackling Domestic Violence and Personal Rumors
Israeli pop star Odeya has released a new five-song mini-album titled "Hashem Azar" (God Helped). The EP follows a series of major summer concerts at Ramat Gan Stadium and Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv, drawing tens of thousands of fans.
The opening track, "Dylan 3898*," co-written and composed by Odeya and Avi Ohayon, addresses domestic violence from a woman's perspective. The song incorporates the phone number for the Michal Sela Forum, an organization dedicated to saving lives and preventing violence against women. The song "Papiti" is also featured, a follow-up to last year's hit "Papi," with a snippet of "Papiti" previously going viral on TikTok.
Another track, "V'ani Bechasdecha Bateiach" (And in Your Grace I Trusted), marks another collaboration with singer Ben Tzour. The song "Nimshachat Le'atzmi" (I Am Attracted to Myself) directly confronts rumors about Odeya's sexuality and a supposed relationship with her close friend Shahar Hiyun. In the song, Odeya sings, "You know what else I understood / That I am not attracted to girls and I am not attracted to boys / And I always knew that I am attracted to myself."
