Ex-IDF Chief Calls Netanyahu a 'Psychopath' Over October 7 Warnings

Former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Dan Halutz has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately withholding crucial intelligence regarding the impending Hamas attack on October 7. Speaking on 103FM radio, Halutz cited what he called "too much circumstantial evidence" suggesting the prime minister knew more about the danger than he disclosed to security officials.

Halutz expressed doubt about Netanyahu's decision-making capabilities, stating, "I don't know how to penetrate the mind of this psychopath. What's going on in his head? Only he knows, and perhaps the people treating him." He added that while not a psychiatrist, he could definitively say there were "too many confirming factors" indicating the prime minister concealed information.

The former IDF chief speculated that Netanyahu might have felt vulnerable or pressured due to financial flows from Qatar to Hamas. He suggested the prime minister may have feared sharing intelligence because security forces might act against his wishes. Halutz also criticized Netanyahu's handling of security meetings, asserting that the prime minister’s personal responsibility to summarize discussions and make decisions was avoided, leaving issues unresolved to prevent commitment or action.

Acknowledging the "total and broad" failure of October 7 affecting all leaders, Halutz noted that most key figures have resigned. He urged the public not to re-elect a leader responsible for such a "catastrophic failure in all areas."
