Opposition Accuses Netanyahu of Lying About October 7 Warnings

Israeli opposition leaders have sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following reports that he was warned by the UAE president about an impending Hamas attack days before the October 7th tragedy. Opposition party heads Avigdor Lieberman, Naftali Bennett, Gadi Eisenkot, and Yair Golan issued a joint statement demanding an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter. They view the reports as further evidence of Netanyahu's failures and inability to effectively perform his duties. The opposition leaders believe Netanyahu's opposition to a state commission of inquiry is an attempt to prevent the full truth about the events from being revealed.

"While Netanyahu and his people spread false conspiracy theories and try to blame the security establishment, it is once again revealed that serious warnings came directly to him, and he ignored them. This is arrogance and a breach of the trust that the citizens of Israel placed in him and his government, as well as extreme negligence in carrying out his duties and in the work of the prime minister," the statement read. The opposition leaders argue that the Israeli public deserves answers regarding what Netanyahu knew, when he received the information, why he did not warn security forces, and why he failed to take necessary measures to protect citizens.

They contend that Netanyahu and the government officials in power on October 7th are no longer capable of effectively fulfilling their roles. The opposition intends to act in a coordinated and responsible manner to prevent a recurrence of such a disaster. Earlier reports indicated that Prime Minister Netanyahu had strongly denied claims that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed had warned him approximately a week and a half before October 7th about a large-scale move being prepared by Yahya Sinwar.
