Eisenkot Accuses Netanyahu of Ignoring Warnings Before October 7

Former IDF Chief of Staff and "Yashar" party leader Gadi Eisenkot has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging that Netanyahu ignored numerous warnings about Hamas's plans to launch an attack prior to the October 7, 2023, events. Eisenkot stated on X, formerly Twitter, that "more and more signs point to the same conclusion: Netanyahu trapped Israel, leading it to the October 7 catastrophe." He dismissed explanations suggesting the Prime Minister was not adequately informed about the impending attack, questioning who was responsible for not acting on the intelligence and calling such statements an attempt to evade accountability.

Eisenkot asserted that Netanyahu received dozens of warnings but disregarded them, concluding that the Prime Minister is "unfit for his position." He also pledged that a state investigative commission would be established after the formation of the next government. According to Eisenkot, this commission would examine events of the past decade, determine precisely what Netanyahu knew, and identify the reasons for the failure that led to the October 7 disaster.
