Jerusalem Mayor Honors Religious Zionist Leaders, Citing Their Role in Building the City
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion hosted a festive gathering for leaders of Religious Zionist synagogue communities and their treasurers (Gabbaim) in the city hall on Tuesday, ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday. The event, initiated by Lion, aimed to recognize their contributions and foster unity for the new year.
"The municipality builds the city, but you make it a home," Lion told the attendees. "We will continue to build Jerusalem together, from stone to person, from neighborhood to community, from infrastructure to soul." He emphasized the collaborative effort in developing the city.
Deputy Mayor Hagith Moshe highlighted the crucial role of the community leaders, stating they are "the connection that links people to the community and serves as a significant anchor in the lives of the neighborhoods."
The gathering, held in the City Council hall at Safra Square, included prominent figures such as Rabbi Yaakov Shapira, head of the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva, and Ariela Reguan, the municipality's CEO. The event featured a musical performance by Kobi Arieli and his band.
