Jerusalem Mayor Launches School Year, Highlights Educational Investment

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion inaugurated the new school year on Tuesday at the "Pele" school in the Katamon neighborhood, emphasizing the city's significant investment across all educational sectors. Approximately 300,000 students in Jerusalem began their studies, with Lion stating, "Jerusalem is the capital of education in the State of Israel and invests in all types of education." He noted the inclusion of secular, Haredi, Religious Zionist, and East Jerusalem students, projecting that "some of the students will lead the State of Israel in the future."

Hagit Moshe, head of the Education portfolio on the City Council, reported zero malfunctions in the education system's opening for the eighth consecutive year. She described the "Pele" school as a "new home" with "special significance" and a "first-class" educational staff, underscoring the system's responsibility for Israel's future.

City Manager Ariela Rejwan highlighted the school's inclusive nature, where children with diverse needs learn together. The head of the Municipal Education Administration, Arik Wurtzburger, added that the new building for "Pele," now in its ninth year, represents a unique approach and part of a larger growth and investment trend in Jerusalem's education system.
