Israeli Military Escalates West Bank Operations Amidst Western Anti-Settlement Moves
Israeli forces arrested at least six Palestinians in the Tulkarm area of the West Bank on Tuesday. Those detained included brothers Hemam and Khitab Ahmed Matrouk, Salim Abu Khousa, Hamza Wahdan, Amr Ghaleb Abu Zeitoun, and Ismail Aufi, a resident of the Tulkarm refugee camp.
Simultaneously, Israeli bulldozers demolished a stable in the Al-Ram area, north of Jerusalem. Local sources reported that the demolition was accompanied by intense tear gas deployment, leading to several citizens suffering from gas inhalation.
This intensified military activity occurred as Britain announced sanctions on individuals and entities involved in settlement construction, along with a ban on importing settlement goods. This move was a protest against plans for a new settlement in the E1 area, which critics argue would disrupt geographical connectivity between the northern and southern West Bank.
Eleven other Western nations, including Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, and Norway, joined the British initiative. They declared their intention to implement national restrictions or support European measures targeting trade in settlement products.
