Arab Israeli Politician Urges High Voter Turnout Despite Personal Ambitions

Engineer and lawyer Nayef Abu Sweis, a potential candidate for the Knesset, has called for a high voter turnout among the Arab Israeli community, emphasizing that the public interest supersedes personal ambitions and political reservations. Despite his own aspirations to serve in the Knesset, which were not realized in the current elections as no parties approached him, Abu Sweis stated that his commitment to his community's welfare is paramount.

Abu Sweis acknowledged having reservations about certain political approaches and the performance of some leaders and candidates within the Arab political sphere. However, he stressed that these criticisms should not lead to voter apathy or actions detrimental to the community's interests. He believes that change requires active participation and a high voting percentage to give their voices real weight and influence.

He urged the community to encourage voting, convincing undecided individuals that their vote is a crucial part of a larger political equation that can shape the future. Abu Sweis clarified that he is not asking people to abandon their convictions or ignore the mistakes of their parties, as criticism and accountability are necessary. However, on election day, he advised distinguishing between criticism and self-weakening.

Abu Sweis announced his support and intention to vote, encouraging others to vote for the candidates they believe are closest to their convictions, whether from the "Threes" or the "United" lists. He concluded by reiterating his ongoing commitment to working for his community from his current position, while continuing to seek opportunities for greater impact, asserting that his community's interest remains his top priority.
