IDF Bolsters Forces in Southern Lebanon Amid Hezbollah Threat

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are reinforcing their troop presence in southern Lebanon and curtailing leave for soldiers ahead of the upcoming holiday period. This heightened alert stems from intelligence assessments indicating that Hezbollah is actively rebuilding its capabilities and preparing for guerrilla-style attacks against Israel.

IDF officials believe Hezbollah has not abandoned its conflict with Israel and intends to continue operations, focusing on restoring its strength and launching asymmetric attacks. These are expected to include the use of explosive devices and weaponized drones, with the possibility of raids on military outposts not being ruled out.

The 91st Division, responsible for the northern border, views the holiday season as a period of increased operational challenges. "We treat the holidays as a complex operational period and we are consolidating. Therefore, we are grouping defenses and strengthening forces. We are reducing leave, there is no quiet and no routine. Not because there is specific intelligence, but because of the understanding that the other side wants to challenge us," stated a military source.

Furthermore, the IDF is preparing for the onset of foggy conditions, a natural phenomenon that complicates defensive operations. "We are in a change of seasons, which leads to the fog season. Something we don't like when we are in a defensive battle. We really like the fog when we are on the offensive. In deployment, in certainty, in observations and patrols in problematic areas," IDF officials explained.
