Food Critic Slams Influencer's Expensive Dessert Box
Food critic Niv Gilboa has heavily criticized a limited-edition dessert box, "WEDDING DESSERTS," launched by social media personality Or Spitz following her recent wedding. The box, priced at 195 shekels and containing 12 pareve petit fours, has drawn widespread complaints regarding its high cost and industrial production. Gilboa revealed that Spitz did not make the desserts herself but had them manufactured by the company Biscotti. He described the price as "very tiny" and "the most expensive," noting that Biscotti products were available elsewhere for much less. Despite criticisms of the size and price, Gilboa and his panel acknowledged that the desserts themselves were very tasty.
The main controversy erupted when the panel examined the ingredient list. Gilboa expressed disgust at the industrial components, exclaiming, "What is this, I don't want to eat this." He added that tasting the desserts was regrettable because the ingredient list made him feel unwell.
Spitz launched the dessert box shortly after her lavish wedding, attended by approximately 800 guests at the LAGO complex in Rishon Lezion. The collection was offered for a limited time through a digital pop-up, allowing the public to sample desserts developed for the event, including mango mousse, chocolate fudge, lemon cream, macarons, and red velvet cake. Spitz had stated that the launch was a way to share her happy moment with her followers, but the criticism over ingredients and price appears to be overshadowing the celebration.
