TV Host Odette Schwartz Quits Dating Apps After Humorous, Awkward Encounters
Veteran Israeli TV host Odette Schwartz, known as the "undisputed queen of tips and lifestyle," recently appeared on the "Hakol Pתוח" podcast where she discussed her career, a frightening medical emergency, and her decision to delete dating apps.
Schwartz revealed she deactivated Tinder and Bumble, stating the apps created "noise in my head." While she didn't have many dates through Tinder, she encountered numerous male profiles, many of whom were nice but not her type. When asked about seeking a partner, she expressed openness but no active pursuit, stating, "If it happens, I won't put up barriers, but I'm not going to work on it one millimeter."
She shared an anecdote from her dating app experiences, which she considered writing a book about titled "Odette's Adventures in the Plains of Tinder." This story involved an exchange with a man who passed her internal screening, leading to a date. However, upon meeting, she found him unappealing, describing his conversation as tedious. The next day, the man called her to declare they wouldn't be a couple. Schwartz questioned the necessity of such a call, to which the host, Avi Shoshan, responded that some people need explicit notification, as experiences can be perceived differently. Schwartz countered that she never misled people and that in this instance, the man was acting as the 'firer' because she had implicitly rejected him by not being interested, despite her polite closing remarks.
Schwartz has been married three times. Her first marriage lasted about five years, to her childhood sweetheart at age 18. Her second marriage to Itzik Danin lasted approximately 17 years, and they have a son and a daughter. Her third marriage to Ilan Schwartz lasted about 14 years, and their divorce generated significant public and media attention in Israel.
