Yotam Zimri, a panelist on Channel 14’s “The Patriots,” reacted to the new understandings memorandum between the United States and Iran and said Israel should have stayed the course militarily. Speaking shortly after the agreement was reported, he argued that Israel still needed to go to war and had already achieved a great deal on the battlefield.
“Still, it was necessary to go to this war, and still Israel achieved a lot in this war,” Zimri said. He added that Israel in the Middle East is not “the collapsing Trump,” but rather “the crazy pit bull that people should fear and be careful of,” using the metaphor to describe Israel’s regional posture.
Zimri was referring to US President Donald Trump, saying Trump had “turned around” on his Iran policy. He stressed that Trump’s change of position does not alter Israel’s obligation to act “straightforwardly and decisively.”
“Just because Trump changed his mind does not mean that we, who acted straight, should not have done it,” he concluded, saying Israel’s actions were necessary regardless of shifts in international positions.
