Arab-Jewish Party Withdraws Knesset Bid to Boost Voter Turnout

The Arab-Jewish political party 'Place for Everyone' (Place for All) announced on Tuesday that it is withdrawing its candidacy from the upcoming Knesset elections. The party stated its decision was made out of a sense of responsibility and to prioritize the public interest over party interests, aiming to prevent the far-right government from continuing in power.

Instead of running its own list, 'Place for Everyone,' led by Rula Daoud and Alon-Lee Green, will focus its efforts on a campaign to increase voter turnout, particularly in the Arab and Jewish communities. The party believes this strategy will be more effective in achieving its goals of replacing the current government and fostering a strong, independent Arab-Jewish political alternative.

The party emphasized that this decision does not signify a retreat from political action. It highlighted the significant support it has garnered in recent months, building a tangible Arab-Jewish political force and introducing a voice for genuine partnership, equality, social justice, opposition to the occupation, and Israeli-Palestinian peace into public discourse. The party acknowledged that polls showed tens of thousands of voters supporting them, especially among Arab citizens, women, and youth, including those who were not initially planning to vote.

'Place for Everyone' explained that the decision followed deep and difficult discussions, recognizing the high stakes of the current elections. They aim to avoid the risk of losing tens of thousands of votes that could contribute to preventing Benjamin Netanyahu, Bezalel Smotrich, and Itamar Ben-Gvir from remaining in power. The party plans to launch a broad field campaign in the coming days, concentrating on areas with low voter turnout and reaching out to those who have lost faith in their ability to effect change.

The party concluded by urging everyone to vote, emphasizing that every vote is crucial and can alter the political landscape. They reiterated their commitment to continuing the work of building their strength for true Arab-Jewish partnership, equality, peace, justice, and a political alternative that offers hope and the power to bring about change.
