Hamas Warns Israel of Consequences Over Jerusalem Counter-Terror Operation
Hamas has issued an official warning to Israel regarding a large-scale counter-terrorism operation underway in the Shuafat and Anata areas of East Jerusalem. The operation, dubbed "Operation "United Fist"", involves joint forces from the Border Police, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and the Shin Bet. Hamas representatives stated that Jerusalem and its refugee camps will remain Palestinian and that any Israeli attempts to establish control or "Judaize" the territory will be met with resistance from local residents. While Hamas warned of "consequences," the group did not explicitly threaten direct military intervention. The operation is being led by Brigadier General Eran Levy, commander of the Jerusalem District, and Colonel Anan Fares, commander of the Binyamin Brigade.
