Yoaz Hendel Urges Benny Gantz to Resign After Polls Show Low Support

Yoaz Hendel, a political figure, has publicly called on Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity party, to resign from politics. Hendel's appeal follows the release of opinion polls indicating that a potential alliance between Gantz's party and other factions, specifically mentioning a union with Zehava Galon and Gadeer Mreeh, would only garner four seats. Hendel argued that Gantz should "recognize the reality" and step down to facilitate the formation of a "Zionist alternative" government.

Hendel praised Gantz as a "worthy person with many contributions to the country," acknowledging his past sacrifices and expressing confidence in his eventual return to public life. However, Hendel insisted that now is the time for Gantz to be "brave" and step aside. He suggested that Gantz's current mandate could be better utilized by the Economic Party, which he described as the only party currently surpassing the electoral threshold and representing reservists.

Hendel further elaborated that his party aims to address issues such as the burden on reservists and the high cost of living, seeking to establish a stable "Zionist government" to "save the State of Israel." He positioned his party as capable of taking on this mission and revitalizing the political system.

In response to Hendel's public statements, the Blue and White party, associated with Gantz, issued a sharp retort. A spokesperson for the party stated, "Yoaz, there are still 5 hours until the lists close, you have enough time to switch to another party," implying Hendel might be considering his own political future amidst the shifting landscape.
