Yoez Hendel Urges Benny Gantz to Quit Knesset Race

Yoez Hendel, chairman of the Reservists and Economics party, called on Benny Gantz, chairman of the National Unity party, to withdraw from the Knesset race, citing Gantz's low poll numbers. Hendel argued that Gantz's continued candidacy could harm efforts to form a "stable Zionist government."

Hendel posted poll data on social media showing his party, running with Professor Yaron Zelekha and Dr. Einat Wilf, securing four seats and passing the electoral threshold. In contrast, he claimed, Gantz's party was polling at only about one percent.

"I call on Benny Gantz to do the right thing and withdraw. It harms the effort to create an alternative that will bring about a Zionist government," Hendel wrote. He also praised Gantz for his public and security service, stating, "Benny Gantz is a worthy person with many merits in the country, even if there are ideological differences. No one will take away his sacrifice over the years. I am convinced he will quickly return to the public sphere. Now is the time to recognize the reality and be brave."

Hendel suggested that votes potentially going to Gantz could strengthen his own party, stating, "There is no point in holding a mandate that could go to the Reservists party, the Economics. The only party passing the electoral threshold. Let us take this mission quietly. To grow to ensure a stable Zionist government, for the sake of the country and the people we both love so much."

The National Unity party responded sharply to Hendel's remarks, saying, "Yoez, there are still 5 hours until the lists close, you have enough time to switch to another party."
