Syria Pursues Diplomatic Path With Israel Amid Ongoing Tensions
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad stated on Monday that Syria remains committed to a diplomatic solution with Israel, despite ongoing tensions and Israeli strikes. Speaking at the 166th ministerial meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, Mekdad emphasized Syria's active pursuit of diplomacy while simultaneously seeking an end to Israeli incursions, arrests, and attacks. He reiterated Syria's demand for exclusive control over weapons within its territory, calling it a "sovereign right" essential for national security and building a shared future.
Mekdad also expressed solidarity with Gulf and Jordanian Arab states and condemned Iranian attacks targeting several countries in the region. The Syrian Foreign Minister addressed his Arab counterparts during the League's session.
