Syria Reaffirms Commitment to Diplomatic Solution with Israel
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani stated on Monday that Syria remains committed to a diplomatic resolution with Israel. Speaking at a meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, al-Shaibani affirmed that his country is "actively working" towards this diplomatic option while simultaneously seeking an end to "Israeli attacks, arrests, and incursions." The Syrian minister made these remarks during the 166th ministerial session of the Arab League, addressing his Arab counterparts. He also asserted Syria's right to exclusive control over weapons within its territory, describing it as a necessary measure for national security and an "absolute sovereign right." Al-Shaibani presented this control as a deterrent that would enable Syria to protect its citizens and foster collective construction. Additionally, he expressed Damascus's solidarity with Gulf Arab states and Jordan, while condemning recent Iranian attacks targeting several regional countries.
