Iranian-American Jew Freed After Four Years in Tehran Prison

A 71-year-old Iranian-American Jewish man has been released from Tehran's Evin prison after nearly four years of detention, according to Iranian media reports. The man, a New York jeweler born in Iran, was arrested by Iranian security forces while visiting family in the country. He was prosecuted by the Islamic Republic's judiciary for a trip to Israel over a decade prior, during which he attended a religious ceremony. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Although released before completing his full sentence, the septuagenarian is still banned from leaving Iran and cannot yet rejoin his family in the United States. During his imprisonment, his relatives expressed grave concerns about his health, stating he suffered from aggressive bladder cancer and did not receive adequate medical care in prison.
