Maccabi Ashdod Captain Ready for Top-Tier Basketball Season

Maccabi Ashdod, recently promoted back to Israel's Premier League after a six-year absence, is set to officially launch its season in the Winner Cup group stage against Hapoel Jerusalem. The team's captain, Robert Turner, expressed optimism and readiness for the challenges ahead in an interview.

Turner, who was a standout player during the team's promotion season averaging 24.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, spoke about his honor in being named captain. He emphasized the importance of taking the season "day by day" and focusing on the team's work ethic, closed-door practices, and building a strong sense of family and chemistry.

He lauded coach Dan Katzir, describing him as someone players would "run through a wall for," and highlighted the shared mentality and commitment within the squad.
