Hostage Avinatan Or Details Escape Tunnel Digging in New Book
Avinatan Or, who was held hostage by Hamas in Gaza for over two years, has revealed details of his escape plan in a new book titled "Through the Earth." In an Instagram video released Monday, Or explained that after more than a year in captivity, he decided to attempt an escape.
He described spending months digging a tunnel with his bare hands, extending it over ten meters outward. Or stated that throughout his captivity, he was driven by the efforts of Israelis working for his release and his own determination to survive and maintain composure.
"You fought for me without knowing me, and I fought every day to survive and keep my cool," Or said in the video, addressing the public. He emphasized his responsibility for his own fate during his 738 days of captivity.
Or, who returned home nearly a year ago, aims to share his experiences and thoughts from his time as a hostage, focusing this time on his underground escape efforts. The book's release marks a year since his return from captivity.
