Famous Israeli Steakhouse Opens Tel Aviv Branch, Maintains Quality
The well-known Israeli meat and skewer restaurant "Oved BaKfar" from Or Yehuda has opened a new branch in Tel Aviv, named "Oved Ba'Ir." Food critic Gal Zehavi visited the new location to assess if it maintains the same taste, abundance, and high standards as the original.
The new Tel Aviv branch features a large, warehouse-like design, a departure from the original's homey atmosphere. However, the restaurant assures that prices and the menu concept remain the same. The meal began with a generous spread of about 17 types of salads, alongside popular starters like meat hummus and grilled mushrooms. While the hummus was described as heavy, the egg salad was noted as excellent.
For the main course, the skewers were the highlight. The beef fillet, priced at 75 shekels per skewer, was praised for its quality and smoky flavor, though the price was questioned. The kebab and chicken thigh (pargit) were deemed the stars of the meal, with the kebab noted for its rich seasoning and the chicken for its juiciness and excellent grill flavor. The merguez sausages were a disappointment, described as dense and industrial.
The meal concluded with a rich chocolate fudge dessert. The total bill for the feast, which was sufficient for at least three diners, came to 457 shekels, considered a worthwhile price for the abundant meal.
In conclusion, "Oved Ba'Ir" successfully transitions to its new location, offering Tel Aviv residents the same experience as the original with exceptional generosity, quality ingredients, and excellent meats in a larger, new setting.
