Dominican Republic's Miss World 2026 Crowned in Vietnam
The 2026 Miss World pageant concluded on September 5 in Nha Trang, Vietnam, with Johayri Mojica Dominguez, 24, representing the Dominican Republic, taking home the crown. She was presented with the title by the previous year's winner, Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand. Mojica Dominguez, the new Miss World, is a literature and social studies teacher, journalist, and community activist.
Spain's Elisabeth Reyes was named first runner-up, and Malaysia's Tanusya Chetty secured the second runner-up position. The competition featured 111 contestants from various countries and territories. The top 12 finalists included representatives from Brazil, Eritrea, France, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Israel did not participate in the 2026 Miss World competition. Historically, Israel has participated in both Miss World and Miss Universe pageants since their inception in the early 1950s. Israeli women have competed in Miss World since 1953 and Miss Universe since 1952. Israel achieved a Miss World victory in 1998 with Linor Abargil and a Miss Universe win in 1976 with Rina Messinger (Mor).
Notable past Israeli participants include Gal Gadot, who competed in Miss Universe 2004 after winning the national title but did not reach the top 15. Israel's last participation in Miss World was in 2017. The country abstained from Miss Universe in 2022-2023 and Miss World even earlier. The Miss Universe 2021 pageant was hosted in Eilat, Israel. In 2024, Ofir (Natalie) Corsia represented Israel at Miss Universe but did not advance to the top 30.
