Tech Investor Oren Dobronsky Declines Knesset Seat, Eyes AI Minister Role
Israeli tech entrepreneur and investor Oren Dobronsky announced he will not run for the Knesset on the Likud party list in the upcoming elections. Despite an offer from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a guaranteed spot in the top ten of the party's slate, Dobronsky stated his preference is to serve as a professional minister rather than a Member of Knesset.
Dobronsky revealed that approximately two months ago, Netanyahu proposed he join the Likud team and, if a government is formed, take on the role of "Minister for Artificial Intelligence." Dobronsky expressed his commitment to working closely with Netanyahu and the Likud party to establish Israel as a leader in artificial intelligence, according to a Facebook post.
Sources from the newspaper "Israel Hayom" indicated that Dobronsky was initially expected to be placed in the 11th position on the Likud list. His refusal leaves Netanyahu with six guaranteed spots in the party's secure electoral positions.
