Haaretz Group Appoints First-Ever Spokesperson

Ido David Cohen has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the Haaretz-TheMarker group, a newly created position within the organization. Cohen, who has spent the last four years as a reporter covering media and culture for Haaretz's "Gallery" supplement and the main newspaper, will publish his final article in his current role tomorrow before assuming his new responsibilities.

Cohen joined the newsroom on July 1, 2022, bringing extensive experience in media and journalism, primarily in editorial roles, alongside legal work and media consulting. He described his time as a reporter as eventful, marked by significant events such as the struggle over judicial reform and wars that have impacted Israel. During his tenure at "Gallery," Cohen was credited with 68 cover stories, investigative reports, profile pieces, interviews with prominent figures in film and television, and contributed to video and podcast productions, including covering two Eurovision song contests.

Cohen views his new role as an opportunity to enhance the group's public profile and provide a broader platform for its journalistic work. "The position of Haaretz-TheMarker spokesperson did not exist until today. Now, we will establish it, likely quickly and efficiently. My job will be to work to increase the public exposure of the journalists and the tremendous and influential journalistic work flourishing in this group," he stated.

He added, "After years of working mostly from home, I will return to stepping out more often and reaching the door on Shoken Street, the door that some people (and leaders) in the country so desperately want to shatter because they fear journalism that is not afraid of them, and are doing everything to silence it (I saw it, we saw it. They will not succeed)."
