Baruch Shai has been officially appointed editor-in-chief of TheMarker newspaper and website, with his term set to begin in mid-July. The appointment was reported on Sunday by Globes.
Shai arrives after a series of senior roles in Israeli media. Most recently, he served as deputy CEO of the Hebrew-language i24news channel, where he played a central role in launching and shaping the outlet.
Before that, he headed the news division of the public broadcaster Kan for about five years, and was responsible for building its news operation from the start. Earlier in his career, he held senior editing and management posts at Channel 10's news company, now News 13, including editor of the main nightly newscast.
His move to TheMarker marks a return to print and digital journalism, and he will be expected to lead the leading economic media outlet through current challenges while strengthening its position in a competitive media market.
