Jerusalem's Chief Rabbi Tours Beer Sheva, Inaugurates Rabbinical Court

Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem and former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, conducted a series of lectures and educational events in Beer Sheva ahead of the High Holy Days. Rabbi Amar visited several educational institutions, including "Baniachu High School" and "Comprehensive High School 6," where he addressed hundreds of students on the significance of the upcoming holy days and the importance of preparation.

During his visit to "Baniachu High School," Rabbi Amar was accompanied by Beer Sheva's Chief Rabbi, Avraham Deri, who also delivered opening remarks. Rabbi Amar's address focused on the importance of interpersonal conduct and abandoning negative traits to achieve spiritual purity before Rosh Hashanah. He concluded his remarks with a communal recitation of "Shema Yisrael" and "Hashem Melech," a practice he emulated from the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

Later, Rabbi Amar attended a reception hosted by the local religious council. At this event, Rabbi Avraham Deri announced the official opening of a "Beth Din for Monetary Affairs" (a rabbinical court for financial disputes), a concept originally initiated by Rabbi Amar during his tenure as Israel's Chief Rabbi. The new court aims to provide solutions in Jewish law, arbitration, and mediation for the city's residents.

Rabbi Amar praised Rabbi Deri's initiative, emphasizing its role in expanding religious observance and strengthening Jewish law in Beer Sheva. He concluded the event by wishing attendees a good and blessed year. Additionally, Rabbi Amar presented a certificate of appreciation to Rabbi Doron Hajaj for his work as a kashrut supervisor for the Beer Sheva Religious Council.
