Beitar Jerusalem Star Omer Atzili Kicks Bottle in Frustration After VAR Decision
Beitar Jerusalem midfielder Omer Atzili displayed visible anger during his team's match against Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday, culminating in him kicking a water bottle after being substituted.
The frustration stemmed from a significant VAR intervention in the 75th minute. Initially, referee Oral Greenberg awarded a penalty to Beitar Jerusalem. However, after reviewing the play on the VAR monitor, Greenberg overturned his decision, rescinding the penalty and issuing Atzili a yellow card instead.
Atzili was substituted in the 81st minute. As he left the field, he gestured angrily and directed his frustration towards the fourth official, Aviad Shiloh. After shaking hands with opponent Almog Cohen, Atzili then kicked a bottle placed on his team's bench.
Beitar Jerusalem had taken a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute through Yugen Anseh, but the controversial VAR decision and Atzili's subsequent reaction overshadowed the team's performance.
