Senior Fatah Official Casts Doubt on November Palestinian Elections
Jibril Rajoub, the incoming secretary of Fatah's Central Committee, stated that he does not believe it is possible to hold the Palestinian Authority (PA) elections scheduled for November. PA President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree several months ago to hold these elections.
Rajoub explained that a series of steps should have been taken before the decree was issued. He emphasized that the elections should have followed a comprehensive national dialogue. The last PA elections were held over 20 years ago.
