Israeli Windsurfers Dominate Opening Day at World Championships
Israeli windsurfers achieved a strong start at the World Championships in Weymouth-Portland, England, completing four races on the opening day. In the women's competition, Tamar Steinberg, last year's world runner-up, secured first place in all four of her races, establishing a commanding lead over the 70-competitor field. Sharon Kantor, the Olympic runner-up, is in 16th place with finishes of 7th, 27th, 26th, and 4th. Shachar Tobi, last year's European runner-up, sits in 13th place after races ending in 9th, 7th, 20th, and 29th. Daniela Peleg, the European champion, is currently 32nd with results of 27th, 33rd, 53rd, and 5th.
On the men's side, Yoav Omer is in fourth place following strong race finishes of 3rd, 1st, 1st, and 9th. Tom Reuveny, the Olympic champion, is positioned 13th with results including 3rd, 13th, 5th, and 5th. Tomer Vardimon is in 17th place after races ending in 1st, 7th, 15th, and 11th. Yoav Cohen rounds out the Israeli men in 30th place with finishes of 17th, 11th, 9th, and 5th.
