Former Head of Follow-up Committee Urges Candidate to Suspend Knesset Run for Unity

During a meeting of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality's council on Tuesday evening, former head of the Follow-up Committee, Muhammad Barakeh, called on candidate Jaafar Farah to suspend his candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Barakeh emphasized that the goal is to maintain the Front's unity and reach a unified decision in preparation for the elections.

"We ask our comrade Jaafar Farah to suspend his candidacy for this parliamentary term, so that we can emerge united," Barakeh stated. He added that there would be time later to hear Farah and respond to his request to suspend his candidacy, stressing that the discussion must conclude with a decision that serves the unity of the ranks.

Barakeh acknowledged Farah's prominent status within the Front, noting his activity and perseverance over the years. He also recalled that Farah had previously denied allegations against him and expressed readiness to take responsibility and correct any proven errors.

Barakeh underscored the necessity of preventing internal disputes from affecting the electoral campaign, urging the preservation of the Front's unity and serious preparation for the upcoming elections. He warned that any division could weaken the Front's standing with its constituents and impact its political presence.

Later in the meeting, Farah, who is the second candidate on the Front's list for the Joint List in the upcoming Knesset elections, requested a vote on Barakeh's proposal. This move indicated his desire for the matter to be resolved democratically within the party's bodies.
