Tiramisu remains one of the world’s most beloved desserts because of its layered combination of soft ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and cocoa powder on top. The result is an elegant, impressive, and highly addictive dessert.
The recipe uses 250 grams mascarpone cheese, 250 milliliters whipping cream, 3 tablespoons powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 package of ladyfingers, 1 cup strong chilled black coffee, 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur, optional, and cocoa powder for garnish.
To prepare it, whip the cream with the powdered sugar until stiff. Fold in the mascarpone and vanilla until smooth. Mix the coffee with the liqueur, if using, then briefly dip each ladyfinger in the coffee for one to two seconds and arrange a layer in a dish. Spread half the cream over it, add another layer of ladyfingers, then cover with the remaining cream.
The dessert should be covered and refrigerated for at least 4 hours before serving. Just before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder.
