Filmmaker Eliran Eliya Joins Gadi Eisenkot's 'Yashar' Party
Director and screenwriter Eliran Eliya, known for the acclaimed film "Motel Besfek" (Doubting) and the series "Ha'ir Ha'tova" (The Good City), has joined the "Yashar" party led by Gadi Eisenkot. Eliya, who currently chairs the Directors Guild of Israel, has a history of blending his work in film and television with educational and public service activities. His creative projects have often explored themes of at-risk youth, education, and social disparities.
Eliya also has experience in local politics, having served as Deputy Mayor of Or Yehuda and responsible for informal education and development in older neighborhoods. During his tenure, he advocated for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in the city. He currently remains a member of the Or Yehuda city council.
Within the "Yashar" party, Eliya is expected to focus on education and culture, reducing societal gaps, strengthening local governance, and promoting Israeli arts and culture. His involvement signals the party's effort to broaden its appeal by incorporating figures from the cultural and public spheres.
