US Airlines Resume Flights to Israel After War Hiatus

Delta Air Lines resumed its daily flights between New York's JFK Airport and Ben Gurion Airport in Israel on Monday, marking the first arrival of a U.S. carrier since the recent conflict with Iran. The flight departed from New York on Sunday and landed in Israel on Monday morning, with the return flight scheduled for later the same day. Delta had announced in March, during the height of the conflict, that it would suspend flights to Israel until September.

United Airlines is also set to restart its operations to Israel, with flights expected to resume on September 8th. The airline plans to operate two daily flights between Newark and Tel Aviv. The return of these major U.S. carriers is anticipated to significantly increase competition on the popular routes to the United States, especially with the upcoming holiday season.

Adding to the competitive landscape, Israir has received approval from the Israel Civil Aviation Authority to operate flights to the U.S. The Israeli airline intends to formally apply to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for permission to fly to New York.

Despite concerns within Israel's aviation sector about potential delays due to renewed Iranian attacks in Jordan and the Gulf, the resumption of flights by U.S. airlines proceeded as planned.
