PR Executive Rani Rahab Throws Book on Minister Ben-Gvir During Live Broadcast

Public relations executive Rani Rahab caused a stir on live television when he threw a book about National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, authored by Ofer Rosenbaum. Rahab, a regular panelist on Channel 13's "Ulpan Shishi" program, hurled the book off the set during a broadcast.

Following the incident, Si Glick, CEO of the human rights organization "BeTzelem," sent an urgent complaint letter to the Second Authority for Television and Radio's ombudsman. Glick argued that Rahab, as a permanent panelist, is expected to exhibit basic public responsibility and a civil discourse. He emphasized that throwing objects on air legitimizes aggressive and violent behavior, negatively impacting young viewers.

Glick also noted the historical and cultural weight associated with the desecration of books, referencing Heinrich Heine's famous warning: "Where they burn books, they will ultimately also burn people." BeTzelem urged the Second Authority to initiate proceedings against Channel 13, reprimand those involved, and state that violence of any kind is unacceptable on television.

Rahab responded to the criticism, questioning Glick's whereabouts when the book was released and arguing that it is unfit for Israeli children. He called Ben-Gvir a racist minister who denigrates the rule of law and stated it was his duty as a citizen to discard the "abominable book" to show that some citizens despise it.
