Israeli Election Chief Allows Distribution of Minister Ben-Gvir's Children's Book
Central Elections Committee Chairman Judge Noam Sohlberg has rejected a petition seeking to ban the free distribution of a children's book authored by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The book, titled "The Minister Who Wouldn't Stop," is an illustrated children's book in verse dedicated to Ben-Gvir himself.
The Movement for Quality of Government in Israel filed a lawsuit against the book's distribution, arguing it violates election law. The petitioners contended that distributing the book constitutes prohibited election gifts, involves children in political campaigning, and misuses state symbols, citing the depiction of a police car and the Attorney General on the cover.
Sohlberg requested explanations regarding the distribution of gifts. After reviewing responses from Minister Ben-Gvir and the "Otzma Yehudit" party, he decided to dismiss the petition. Consequently, the distribution of the children's book will proceed without electoral commission restrictions.
