IDF to Introduce New Medical Profile for Combat Roles

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is set to introduce a new medical profile, designated as 70, with a range of 64 to 72. This change aims to allow more conscripts, who previously would have been restricted to non-combat roles, to be considered for combat positions. The initiative is being driven by the Military Advocate General's Corps and the Manpower Directorate, with the goal of better utilizing the potential of new recruits.

The new profile will be assessed during the initial enlistment process, known as the "Tzav Rishon" (first order), where a conscript's military medical profile is determined. Previously, individuals with profiles falling within this new range were limited to rear-echelon support roles.

According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, this move will expand the pool of eligible soldiers, improve placement suitability, and offer more individuals the opportunity to serve in combat roles. The IDF emphasized that the decision will be based on each individual's medical condition and fitness, as determined by the Medical Corps. The military also stated that it will continue to focus on maximizing human resource potential and broadening the scope of service, while prioritizing the health and needs of soldiers and the army.

Details of the new profile will be presented to the public and reflected in the enlistment process once the planning is finalized and approved.
