Holiday Gift Survey Reveals Wide Pay Gaps for Israeli Workers
A new survey on holiday gifts for employees in Israel ahead of Rosh Hashanah reveals significant disparities in amounts, with workers at the Israel Airports Authority set to receive the highest gift at NIS 1,400. Following closely are employees at IAI and Elta Systems, each receiving NIS 1,300. The total value of these holiday gifts across the economy is estimated to exceed NIS 5.5 billion, according to the survey conducted by "Vaadim" company.
The survey, which covered over 1,200 workplaces, highlights substantial differences in gift values, ranging from over NIS 1,000 in some companies to as little as NIS 200 in others. Companies offering lower holiday gifts include Assuta Medical Centers (NIS 200), Metropolin (NIS 250), Elbit Systems, and Cellcom (NIS 300).
Disparities also exist in the form of gifts. While 30% of employees will receive tangible gifts and another 30% will get food vouchers, only 5% will receive the gift money directly into their bank accounts. Other notable gift amounts include NIS 1,250 for Bank Yahav employees, NIS 1,200 for Jerusalem Municipality workers, and NIS 1,075 for Tel Aviv Municipality employees. Israel Post and the Histadrut labor union will provide NIS 1,000 gifts.
In the financial sector, Max employees will receive NIS 800, Clal Insurance employees NIS 700, Discount Bank NIS 600, and Bank Hapoalim NIS 400. Among food and leisure companies, Zoglovec leads with NIS 1,100, followed by Zara Group (NIS 800), Osem (NIS 550), Gad Dairy, and the Israeli Opera (NIS 500).
Technology companies also offer significant gifts, with SuperPlay and Genpact Israel employees receiving NIS 1,000, Playtika NIS 950, and Resonetics NIS 750. Other companies and organizations mentioned include Israel Railways (NIS 840), Rafael and the Ministry of Defense (NIS 750), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NIS 700), and Sderot Municipality (NIS 600).
Yakov Alush, CEO of Vaadim, stated that holiday gifts reflect appreciation and strengthen employee belonging. He noted that despite the digital age, tangible gifts still hold significant value for many employees.
